Sam Mayer is a next-generation racer on a fast pace to becoming a future star in NASCAR’s elite racing series. Hailing from Franklin, Wisc. as the 18-year-old son of former IndyCar racer Scott Mayer, the young driver has already made his mark in NASCAR, winning in just his seventh career start in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series in 2020, thus becoming the second-youngest winner in the series’ history at age 17. The win propelled Sam into a seat in the NASCAR Xfinity Series aboard the No. 8 Chevrolet for JR Motorsports, co-owned by Dale Earnhardt Jr.
Before he started racing in NASCAR’s national series, Sam proved his racing acumen by winning three championships, the 2019 and 2020 ARCA Menards East Series championships, plus the 2019 NASCAR K&N Pro Series East championship.
Sam is a member of the Drivers Edge Development Program, a joint venture between JR Motorsports and GMS Racing, sponsored by Chevrolet, aimed at grooming the next generation of racing superstars.
